Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, but here we go. I had some flooring put into my house, and they discovered a wet spot in the paint at the bottom of an interior wall in a closet. My handyman pulled a section of the drywall and discovered that the particle board/plywood on the outside was completely rotted away. This section of my house is brick exterior, then the particle board, studs/insulation, drywall, paint. (if that helps) He tried to track down the cause of the leak, and it goes up about 7 or 8 feet behind the drywall/insulation. It's an exterior wall of my house with brick on the outside. What they can determine is that the gutter system was allowing water to flow back into the inside of the wall over time which caused it to rot. My homeowners insurance is denying the claim b/c they said its not covered. My question is, do i have a leg to stand on in this equation or should i quit and just eat the cost of repairs? The home is only 15 years old, and I've owned it for about 3 years, 8 months.
