But as far as we can see, the market is quickly shifting and acting upon new things. Books that are made of blog content are one of the activities which many bloggers tend to do nowadays. 1. A Book Offers Credibility There's a huge difference between a book and a blog. Even though a blog could be really credible, it can't compare with a well-written book. When you tell your audience that you have written a book, you're letting them know that you're an expert in the field. 2. You Can Reach Different Audiences Some people just don't read blogs. They are information consumers who choose books instead of any other form of content. Some people are not comfortable with technology, while some might not have internet access all the time. 3. Money Let's not forget about the fact that your book will have a price. A blog has a different type of monetization. You make money with ads or affiliate marketing, but now we're talking about different standards. If you have a product (book), you can earn way more money, as you will get all the money without sharing it with anyone.
In my own early days of blogging I made the mistake many make trying to design the blog myself and using templates. If you are to be taken seriously and to get a book deal or start driving some serious revenue then invest $500-1000 on getting somebody to design your blog professionally. A badly designed messy blog will put people off straight away and make people think you are small-time. Connect With Other Bloggers This was the best advice I got in the early days and it has paid off over and over again. Some of you might think that people within your own niche should be seen as competition but the reality is that there is room for everybody. Like-minded bloggers within your niche will help you grow your audience, refer business to you, add value to your content, and share what is working for them. Most people ignore this tip but the community of bloggers is so strong and you'll be surprised at just how welcoming most are. Help People There is no more effective tool in the world than helping other people.
Posted February 15, 2010 in Books/Magazines I recently went looking for some software to make a blog into a book. Here's what I found: – Lulu will take PDF files for a book. will try to create a PDF from a blog. Unfortunately, my blog made BlogBooker choke (I have 991 posts from my blog) — even when I excluded comments. – will try to create a book from a blog, but it only supports blogs hosted on, not other WordPress blogs. That will help some people who want to print their blog into a book, but not everyone. – I had the best luck with FastPencil. In order to reduce the size of your exported blog, you'll first want to go to your comments section, click on the "spam" link and clear out any spam comments by selecting all the spam comments and clicking "Empty Spam". Then you can export your WordPress blog (from the Dashboard, click Tools, then Export) as an XML file that you can download to your computer. From there, FastPencil lets you upload the file and then select which blog posts to include in the book.
